Extra Mighty Mouse Walkthroughby *Madspeitersen

Here is a walkthrough of my Extra Mighty Mouse artwork.

Ruff idea, sketching out all the different directions this could go in. Here you really should make all the mistakes, and get clear at what it is you wish to create

Scanning in, clean up and dividing layers in Photoshop. Settling on final perspective.

Drawing the gearworks. Do this with the circle tools and masks. Focus on the details afterwards.

Take the flat gears and skew them in perspective so that they fit your image. Then take a copy of that layer, darken it a bit and move it behind the first. Move it a couple of pixels backwards with your arrow buttons, until the right 3d look is there. Repeat this process until your satisfied and has a solid 3d look. Explore early color palette

Early shadow and lightning, explore colors, add some textures. Highlights on gears

more detailed shadows and textures, begin details on gear and skeleton.

Working on shadows, highlights, lightning and detail. Added the running man.

Finalising lightning and shadow, some late color reflections

HEY Madpeirtersen, i really love your work. truly inspiring, its given motivation to start learning to make digital art and also tackle my fear softwares in general.

i woud really appreciate if you could tell me the tools you use to make these masterpieces. (i apologise if you've already answered that on the site)

I have drawn the sketches in hand, scanned them in and then give them the full workaround in Photoshop. To better draw in Photoshop i use my ever trusted Wacom intuos drawing tablet. This is a must

The process is very intriguing to say the very least. at my current level i had a hard time comprehending the process let alone manage to put it together. however using this as a reference may not be a bad idea for pieces further down the road
