Extra Mighty Mouse Walkthrough by Madspeitersen Extra Mighty Mouse Walkthrough by Madspeitersen
Here is a walkthrough of my Extra Mighty Mouse artwork.

#1 2 3 4
Ruff idea, sketching out all the different directions this could go in. Here you really should make all the mistakes, and get clear at what it is you wish to create :)

#5
Scanning in, clean up and dividing layers in Photoshop. Settling on final perspective.

#6 7
Drawing the gearworks. Do this with the circle tools and masks. Focus on the details afterwards.

#8 9
Take the flat gears and skew them in perspective so that they fit your image. Then take a copy of that layer, darken it a bit and move it behind the first. Move it a couple of pixels backwards with your arrow buttons, until the right 3d look is there. Repeat this process until your satisfied and has a solid 3d look. Explore early color palette

#10 11
Early shadow and lightning, explore colors, add some textures. Highlights on gears

#12 13
more detailed shadows and textures, begin details on gear and skeleton.

#14 15
Working on shadows, highlights, lightning and detail. Added the running man.

#16
Finalising lightning and shadow, some late color reflections:) and Tadaaaa;)

Hi Takashimurasaki  Its an honor to hear that my work inspires you to start working on digital artwork :) I have drawn the sketches in hand, scanned them in and then give them the full workaround in Photoshop. To better draw in Photoshop i use my ever trusted Wacom intuos drawing tablet. This is a must ;) If your interested in close working description, i have written down the process in the comments below my WIP toturials  Enjoy

The process is very intriguing to say the very least. at my current level i had a hard time comprehending the process let alone manage to put it together. however using this as a reference may not be a bad idea for pieces further down the road ;)

thanx alot :) Its all by hand, its been years since i worked in any 3d program ;)

You see the flat gears at step 7. Take these and skew them in perspective so that they fit your image. Then take a copy of that layer, darken it a bit and move it behind the first. Then move it a couple of pixels backwards with your arrow buttons, until the right 3d look is there ;) Repeat this process until your satisfied ;)
